Word from our Pastor

The Innovative Church
A few years ago I noticed a new word being used to describe certain churches-innovative. Those who study the trends of church life suggest it will be the innovative churches who strive in the next fifty years. The experts also predict that churches who refuse to innovate will either cease to exist or will just barely survive.

I looked up the word "innovate" in the dictionary and it basically means to do something new or different. So I guess churches that are willing to try new ideas will make the greatest impact for God's Kingdom. Unless of course the experts are wrong.

It's scary doing something for the first time. We have lots of questions. What will happen? What if it doesn't work? What will people think? What if people leave? Why can't we just do it the old way? How much does it cost? Who's going to help?

Yesterday we were preparing to have guests over for supper and Brandy discovered we had neither peaches nor apples. So we had pineapple cobbler for dessert. She did something innovative and everything was just fine. Of course I had strawberry shortcake because I am afraid to try new stuff. I wonder how that cobbler tasted.

Expecting the best,
Roger
