Rev. Roger Mathis


Pastor Roger Mathis was born June 21, 1968 in Darlington County, South Carolina. He committed his life to the Lord in 1983 and answered God's call into the ministry in 1993. His educational accomplishments are graduating high school from St. John's High School in Darlington, receiving of his Bachelor of Music from the University of South Carolina in Columbia in 1992 and a Master of Divinity with Biblical Languages from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in 1997.
Pastor Roger Mathis has served as a Minister of Youth at Black Creek Baptist Church where he was ordained as a deacon and licensed into the Gospel Ministry. He then served as a Minister of Music and Youth at Hocutt Memorial Baptist Church of Clayton, NC. He was ordained in 1997 by Baptist Temple Church of Reidsville, NC where he served as an Associate Pastor and Minister of Music. In 1999 he planted and became the pastor of Living Hope Community Church of Reidsville along with the help of the Baptist State Convention of North Carolina and the North American Mission Board. He was also the worship leader for New Horizon of Greensboro during its early years as a new church. He has served here in Gastonia, North Carolina as pastor of Unity Baptist Church since February 17, 2008.
Pastor Roger Mathis married Brandy Smith of Reidsville in July of 2000 and they have two boys, Brandon and Eben. Apart from his ministry he enjoys music, reading, golf, outdoor activities and playing with his children.
